The low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area as of 0830 hrs IST on Tuesday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The system is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, off the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts, by the afternoon of Wednesday
Following its intensification, the system is likely to continue moving west-northwestwards towards the north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts, with further intensification expected during the subsequent 24 hours.
