KALAMAZOO, MI — Western Michigan University’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats” opens this weekend in the university’s black box theater.
The Tony Award-winning musical will take over the D. Terry Williams Theatre , 1351 Theatre Drive at WMU, beginning Friday, Oct. 24. It runs through Sunday, Nov. 9.
The production will come to life in an intimate new staging that surrounds audiences on all sides, putting them “nearly in the action,” a news release from WMU Theatre states.
Set beneath a luminous full moon in a reimagined setting based on a cat’s perspective, the musical will transform the theater into a world of rhythm, poetry and dance where cats roam all around attendees.
