The Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) became the single largest contributor to Sri Lanka’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in the first nine months of this year, with an investment of USD 229 million in advanced port infrastructure, the Board of Investment (BOI) said on Tuesday.

The CWIT is a joint venture between Adani International Port Holdings Pte Ltd (India), John Keells Holdings PLC, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

According to the BOI, total FDI inflows including foreign commercial loans for BOI-approved enterprises reached USD 827 million between January and September 2025, representing a 138 per cent surge over the same period
