KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A wild chase that started in Independence ended with a state trooper opening fire.

Independence PD and KCPD officers chased a driver and his passenger from Missouri into Kansas and back again around 9:15 Monday night, October 20.

When the car finally stopped on Oakland Avenue, a confrontation ensued, ending in the Missouri State Trooper firing his gun.

The driver took off again but was captured a short distance later on 91 Terrace in South Kansas City and taken to the hospital. He is expected to recover from the gunshot wound. Another person was also arrested.

Kansas City Police are handling the investigation.
