Disney is rolling out a new round of price hikes on its streaming platforms as controversy swirls around ABC and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 21, the monthly price of Disney+ with ads will rise $2 to $11.99. The ad-free Disney+ Premium plan will increase $3 to $18.99.
The Disney+ and Hulu bundle jumps from $10.99 to $12.99, while the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select bundle climbs from $16.99 to $19.99. Customers who choose the Premium bundle, which drops ads on Disney+ and Hulu but still runs them on ESPN, will pay $29.99, up from $26.99.
The hikes come after Disney briefly suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" earlier in September. The late-night show is set to return with a new episode at 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
ABC temporarily pulled the show after Nexstar Media Group announced it would not air the program due to Kimmel's comments on Monday, Sept. 15, in the aftermath of conservative activist Charlie Kirk's killing. Critics said the sidelining was because of pressure from the Trump administration in a free-speech crackdown.
The backlash to ABC's initial decision fueled a spike in Google searches for people looking to cancel Disney+ and Hulu in protest. Entertainment figures also pledged to end their streaming subscriptions before Disney reversed course, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcast Group said they'll preempt "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on their local ABC affiliates even as new episodes return.
