Plans for a new Gypsy and Traveller home have been approved after a family said they faced having nowhere else to go after leaving their current site. Councillors at Fenland District Council unanimously agreed to approve the plans for the new home on land off New Drove, in Wisbech St Mary, after they said it would be “devastating” to turn the application down.
Samuel Taylor had applied to the district council for permission to create a Gypsy and Traveller plot, including one mobile home and two touring caravans. He told councillors at a planning committee meeting that he is the fourth generation in his family to work in farming in the Fenland area.
Mr Taylor explained that his family had been given verbal notice to leave the site they are renting. He said this would leave them with now
