CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Democrats protested the GOP’s congressional map redraw on Tuesday by busing from Charlotte to Raleigh.
The “all aboard for fair maps” bus departed from Hornets Nest Park just off I-77 around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, for a rally in Raleigh.
North Carolina Democrats said the rally was to “send them [Republicans] a clear message: we’re watching and we’re not backing down.”
Why Democrats are protesting
This comes after GOP leaders in the General Assembly announced they will redraw the state’s U.S. House map ahead of the 2026 elections.
The proposed map must still pass both chambers of the North Carolina legislature, and the Senate has already passed initial changes.
