AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) - The Texas Panhandle saw slight improvement for its continued dry conditions during the week of Oct. 14, while drought encroached and worsened in much of the rest of the state.

According to the Texas Water Development Board's "Water Weekly" report, 30% of Texas was experiencing drought conditions as of Oct. 14, compared to 26% the previous week, 22% three months ago and 55% one year ago.

Several counties in the Texas Panhandle were once again considered in “abnormally dry” conditions, continuing the trend from the previous report, with parts of southern Hardeman County under "moderate" drought conditions.

However, that marked an improvement in much of the northwestern areas of the region.
