Students at Kirkland Lake’s École secondaire catholique l’Envolée du Nord now have the use of new technology to aid in their learning thanks to a generous donation from a member of the community.
As teacher Casey Owens explained, the funds were used to purchase two laser engravers.
“One is 20 watts, and the other is 40 watts. They basically, are for the woodworking program.”
He added that the units will enhance the students’ horizons in terms of what they will now be able to do for class assignments and projects.
“It gives us opportunities to push personalized designs further than we could before.
“So, before we had to do it with a Cricut and burn them by hand. The old-school way of doing it.”
