PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A serious pedestrian-involved crash has prompted the closure of a major road in central Phoenix.
Details are still limited. Officers were called to the reported crash just before 5 a.m. at 24th Street near McDowell Road .
Initial information found that a woman was trying to cross the road when she was hit by the vehicle. Police said the driver involved did stay at the scene. The woman’s condition was not provided.
The police response has caused the closure of 24th Street in both directions from McDowell to Palm Lane. Drivers can use 32nd Street or SR-51 to avoid the closure. It’s unclear how long this road closure will remain.
It’s unknown what led to this crash. An investigation is underway.
