CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- A Crowley couple have been charged in connection with the death of their 10-month-old baby, authorities said.

Jacolby Jones, 24, of Crowley, is charged with second degree murder and Mikelle Smith, 24, of Crowley, is charged with second degree cruelty to a juvenile.

Crowley Police were called to assist EMT personnel on the evening of Oct. 14 in reference to a 10-month-old not responding.

Investigators said that upon the infant’s mother returning from work, she found her child to be what she thought was asleep on the bed. Upon checking on the child, the mother found the child unresponsive and emergency personnel were called.
