LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- This morning, Catholic Charities of Acadiana hosted their food pantry partners and KLFY News 10 as a way to kick start the FoodNet Food for Families Food Drive campaign.

Ben Broussard, Chief of External Affairs at Catholic Charities of Acadiana, said the drive helps nearly all of Acadiana.

“It represents nearly every part of Acadiana," Broussard said. "And a lot of these pantries are rural, and so they're going to serve these rural parts of our community that are generally underserved and have higher rates of food insecurity.”

Small items like boxed crackers, canned soup and canned vegetables make a big impact in these communities.
