On Oct. 19, Schertz city staff announced in a news release that City Council member and longtime government figure Tim Brown died.

Career history

Brown was elected to the Place 7 council position in 2018 and served as president of the Schertz Economic Development Corporation from 2011 to 2018, according to the news release. Brown retired as a chief master sergeant in the United States Air Force , serving a total of 28 years as a special operations combat controller.

Both city staff members and other area officials offered their condolences to Brown's friends and family.

Krystal Hayne, Schertz's public affairs director, said Brown was an authentic and compassionate man who cared for the well-being of others.
