When Gulshan Kumar, the founder of T-Series, was assassinated in broad daylight in 1997, it sent shivers through Bollywood. At this time, stories about Bollywood’s connections with underworld criminals were beginning to surface, but no one had ever expected that a prominent film producer would be killed in the middle of the street. When the investigation began, music composer Nadeem Saifi’s (of the Nadeem-Shravan duo) name came up as one of the conspirators and soon after, Nadeem fled the country. In a new interview, public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said that Nadeem was the “mastermind” of the conspiracy. When asked why Gulshan Kumar was killed, Ujjwal suggested that it could have something to do with the supposed rivalry between singers Anuradha Paudwal and Alka Yagnik.
