BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The familiar landscape along Highway 6 in Aggieland is undergoing a significant transformation as large trees and landscaping that once lined the busy thoroughfare are being cleared, making way for a major 11-mile expansion project by the Texas Department of Transportation.
While current views might appear stark, this initial phase is part of a long-term plan to not only improve mobility but also restore and enhance the area’s natural beauty.
TXDOT is currently in the preparatory stage, focusing on clearing trees, shrubs, and existing landscaping. Construction is slated to officially begin on December 1st, which will bring more visible changes to drivers, including lane shifts, concrete work, and heavier construction equipment along the highway.
