A California man is behind bars for allegedly murdering his 71-year-old father and telling cops he had to "finish the job" because the victim owed him $5,000.

Alfred Juarez Jr., 49, stands accused of murder , cruelty to an elderly person with great bodily harm, robbery, and carjacking in the death of Alfred Juarez Sr., according to court records. The younger Juarez remains in the Kern County Jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 27.

Bakersfield police responded around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 to a home in the 6100 block of Chandler Way due to a report of an unresponsive man, local NBC affiliate KGET reported. When officers arrived, they found the victim, who showed signs of being assaulted, and he was pronounced dead. Cops arrested his son in Los Angeles County.
