WACO, Texas (KWTX) - It’s Red Ribbon Week. On Monday, different units from within the Waco Police Department stopped at Woodway Elementary and Spring Valley Elementary School to remind kids to stay drug free.
The week also gives students a unique, in-depth look at the role and duties of police officers.
Red Ribbon Week honors DEA Officer Enrique Camarena who was killed in Mexico by the cartel.
Red ribbons are a symbol of the commitment to raise awareness for the destruction caused by drugs in the country.
The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, SWAT team, and K-9’s were all in on the experience!
