Comedy legend Peter Kay has revealed a rather "embarrassing" incident that unfolded when he attended a funeral, admitting he "could have died" himself.

The Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere star has shared details of a moment he'd prefer to forget.

Opening up about his private life in his recently published memoir , Peter Kay's Diary, the 52-year-old described how embarrassment took over when he was asked to attend his mate's brother's funeral.

Reflecting on the solemn event, he began: "The last funeral I attended was a cremation and it was an embarrassing disaster. A good friend of mine had lost his brother, Frank. Despite not knowing his brother I felt obliged to pay my respects." View 4 Images
