President Donald Trump 's previously scheduled meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest has been canceled with no plans to meet "in the immediate future," the White House said in a statement obtained by ABC News on Tuesday (October 21).
Trump had previously announced that he and Putin would meet in Hungary this week in a post shared on his Truth Social account following their phone conversation last Thursday (October 16).
"I have just concluded my telephone conversation with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, and it was a very productive one," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account. "President Putin congratulated me and the United States on the Great Accomplishment of Peace in the Middle East, something that, he said, has been dreamed of for centuries.
