DENVER — A Denver college student who used an about-to-expire pass on a one-day trip to Los Angeles was among the 134 passengers on a United plane diverted to Salt Lake City after something smashed into – and broke – the plane’s windshield.

Last Thursday’s incident remains under investigation. The pilot suffered cuts to his arm, apparently from flying glass, but none of the 134 passengers on board was seriously injured.

Heather Ramsey, a senior at Regis University, was seated in the back of the plane on a seemingly uneventful flight when she noticed tense words between two flight attendants during drink and snack service.

“One of them kind of raised her voice at the other, which I thought was peculiar because I've never seen an incident like that between flight attendants,” Ramsey told
