COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — The Coeur d'Alene City Council is expected to authorize the purchase of six new police vehicles during tonight’s regular meeting.
The matter before the council, which is included in the consent agenda, is a proposal to purchase six 2026 Chevrolet Tahoes from Knudtsen Chevrolet at a cost of about $56,785 each or about $340,771 in total.
The city’s budget for fiscal year 2026 includes $350,500 for vehicle replacement.
“In the daily operations of our police department, fleet vehicles are more than just modes of transportation — they are essential tools that directly impact officer safety, response times and community service,” Lt. Bill Tilson Jr. said in a report prepared for the city council.
