Students and staff at Herschel V. Jenkins High School were sent home early Tuesday because of inoperable bathrooms.

Despite the facility being built in 2021, the school experienced unexpected plumbing issues this morning.

Maintenance crews are working onsite to identify the issues.

School was dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Walkers and car riders were released as normal, and school bus riders will run their regular routes and stops. Lunch was provided to students in a grab and go format.

It is currently unknown what caused the plumbing issues and when the school will reopen.
