Here's some potentially good news for Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan's independent bid to become Michigan's next governor: a majority of Michigan voters are at least somewhat interested in considering a candidate not affiliated with the major political parties.

Or at least they say they are, in theory.

On Oct. 21, the Glengariff Group of Lansing released a poll it did for the Detroit Regional Chamber showing 58% of the registered voters surveyed were at least somewhat interested in voting for a candidate for governor running as an independent. Twenty-three percent said they had no interest and 15% said, eh, it depends. The rest didn't respond.
