LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (WAFB/ KATC ) - Three people are dead after a plane crashed Tuesday (Oct. 21) near the intersection of Gloria Switch Road and LA Highway 93, according to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and KATC-TV .

Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area and take alternate routes.

The cause of the crash and details about the aircraft and victims have not yet been released.
