CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Capitol has been evacuated as authorities investigate a suspected improvised explosive device (IED), according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Authorities received a report of a suspected IED at the Capitol this morning, and out of precaution evacuated the building and are investigating.
WHP, the Laramie County Sheriff's Office, and the Cheyenne Police Department/LCSO joint bomb squad are responding, using canine units and drones to assist in their investigation of the scene.
“Everyone's just trying to work as thoroughly as they can right now,” WHP senior public relations specialist Aaron Brown said. “We're trying to keep everyone safe in the meantime. As more information becomes available, I'll make sure to let people know.”
