MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Matthews man is accused of leaving a backpack with drugs and weapons outside of the Union County Courthouse after asking deputies to hold onto the bag while inside, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, Johnny Johnson, 30, of Matthews, went to the Union County Courthouse for a court hearing for a previous offense. The UCSO says he asked Court Security deputies if they could hold onto the backpack he was carrying.
Deputies told him they couldn't hold onto personal belongings and suggested he take his backpack to his car or house. However, Johnson chose to throw the bag into some nearby bushes before going back into the courthouse.
Soon after, Johnson was arrested for breaking a domestic violence protection order. Meanwhil
