Foundation Housing have been forced to reduce the number of dwellings for its Como social housing project with the price almost doubling in just three years.

In 2022, Foundation Housing plans received approval for 121 dwellings, a ground floor office, with building heights of six and eight storeys and two basements.

Since then, the construction cost for the project has soared from $35 million to $67m forcing the company to reconsider their design and scale.

In February 2025, Foundation Housing made the decision to pursue an amended approval with a slightly reduced number of dwellings to ensure the project remained financially viable.

The new plans for the site at 63 Ley Street in Como, has 14 less dwellings and a reduction of height and car parking numbers.
