Following a months-long leave of absence , the lawyer for the embattled Thames Valley District school board has resigned, education director Bill Tucker announced Tuesday.

In an email to staff, Tucker said Ali Chahbar – the board’s general counsel since 2018 – had resigned to “pursue other opportunities.”

“Please join me in wishing Ali all the best in his future pursuits,” Tucker wrote.

Chahbar, who couldn’t be reached for comment, worked as a lawyer in private practice for a decade before joining the school board seven years ago.
