Reverend Ashley Wright, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s rector, knew emotions would ripple throughout the community when the local congregation’s vestry announced it will sell its Old Town chapel.

“That’s why I’m doing my best to address present realities with the grief that comes with a decision like this,” she said. “I have background as a hospital chaplain, where I became a priest and I worked at St. Mark’s and Primary Children’s hospitals. So I’m very familiar with grief, the effects of grief and the process of working through grief.”

With that in mind, Wright created a schedule of events that would lead up to the sale and attempt to give her parish and the community a sense of closure.
