Residents in Winnipeg’s Point Douglas area say the city quietly approved permits for a facility combining supervised drug consumption and sobering units just one day before legislative hearings on Manitoba’s new addictions legislation — a move they call a breach of public trust and transparency.
The Point Douglas Residents Committee (PDRC) says the City of Winnipeg issued two building permits on Oct. 15 for 190 Disraeli Freeway — one authorizing 20 supervised consumption rooms and another for 20 sobering units.
