The Climate Change Department signed a multimillion-dollar contract with a company owned by a man employed by the department on a labour hire contract.
Gavin Brewer, the co-owner of Queanbeyan-based consultancy company Jaylirra, began working for the department in January 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile, on a contract basis.
This labour hire contract extended the work that Jaylirra was already doing for the department, with the company picking up three labour hire contracts worth a combined $2.2 million in the year prior.
Three months after Mr Brewer joined the department in a role he describes as "on prem[ises] infrastructure" his company, Jaylirra, won a $554,400 contract for audio-video and video conferencing services and support.
