Oldham County is considering purchasing roughly 225 acres of land near Stewart Lane and Harrods Creek for conservation and recreational purposes, Judge-Executive David Voegele confirmed to The Courier Journal Oct. 21.

The wooded area, which stretches about 8,000 feet along Harrods Creek, would serve as another space for residents to gather, Voegele said. The property — which features trails and areas for camping, fishing and hiking — is currently listed at around $5 million, though the county is currently negotiating a final price with the property owner.

“It’s a beautiful outdoor space, and I believe many people in the county would benefit from [it] for many decades to come,” Voegele said.
