WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man has been arrested in connection to a fire at the Forsyth County Courthouse late Tuesday morning, prompting a full evacuation of the building.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was reported around 11:30 a.m. inside a men’s restroom. Deputies at the courthouse located and extinguished the fire before it could cause major damage. The Winston-Salem Fire Department responded shortly after receiving emergency notifications.
As a safety precaution, everyone inside the courthouse — including staff, attorneys, and members of the public — was evacuated. No serious injuries were reported, though one person was taken to a local hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation.
