An Armuchee man managed to upgrade his misdemeanor arrest to felony status by spitting blood at a police officer, because apparently regular obstruction just wasn’t enough.
What’s Happening: A 38-year-old Armuchee man now faces a felony obstruction charge after his Sept. 3 arrest at a Big Indian Trail residence went from bad to biohazardous. The original charges of trespass, terroristic threats and acts, and misdemeanor obstruction apparently didn’t satisfy his criminal ambitions.
What’s Important: Spitting blood on a law enforcement officer during an arrest is a felony in Georgia, and the suspect is still in the Floyd County Jail without bond. That means a judge decided he shouldn’t be walking around while awaiting trial.
