London: England coach Shaun Wane has fired a shot at Aaron Woods on the eve of the Ashes series after the former Australian prop took aim at the veteran mentor’s motivational ability.

Woods, who took on Billy Slater during Origin after labelling the Queensland coach a “grub”, has been at it again in recent weeks – this time taking aim at Wane.

“Fair dinkum, can you wake me up?” Woods said on a recent Triple M podcast after watching a Wane team talk on social media about the importance of the Ashes to the England players.

“Listening to that, are you kidding? No wonder they haven’t won the Ashes in so long.”

Speaking at Wembley Stadium just a few days out from the opening game of the series at the iconic venue, Wane returned serve against Woods.
