An Alabama Death Row inmate set to die this week is asking the governor to meet with him prior to his Thursday execution to “know the guy that’s innocent on Alabama’s death row.”

Anthony Boyd made his plea during a press conference on Tuesday morning, hosted by the nonprofit Execution Intervention Project and led by his spiritual advisor Rev. Jeff Hood.

“I’m asking, extending, offering, giving you an invitation to please come sit down and talk to me before this execution is carried out,” Boyd said in an audio clip from a prison phone call that was recorded Monday night.

“Before an innocent man is executed, come sit down with me and have a conversation with the guy that you deemed one of the worst of the worst.”
