HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — Authorities in Henderson are on high alert following the escape of inmate Timothy Oliver from the Henderson County Jail.

Police say Oliver escaped from the jail on foot around noon on Tuesday.

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) has taken over the investigation, with assistance from detectives from the Henderson Police Department.

A K9 unit began its search at the jail and followed a trail through the woods to Ohio Drive and Green Street, where a bike was discovered. A large perimeter has been set up as officers follow leads in the search for Oliver. Officials say search efforts are currently concentrated between the jail and Ohio Drive.

Officials are currently reviewing phone calls and records as part of their investigation.
