NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The North Charleston Police Department has been working to crack down on what they said is an uptick in juvenile firearms crimes, and keeping guns out of kids' hands is something that takes the whole community's cooperation.

They're breaking into cars and stealing guns, explained North Charleston Police Offer, Tory Aratan. "We've seen a lot of kids with guns, specifically young juveniles".

It only takes a few seconds to open and unlocked car and steal a gun left inside. NCPD said that is how many teens are getting their hands on weapons. The teens usually tend to be in groups, and incidents have been reported all over the community, making it difficult to track.
