Hundreds of thousands of Oregonians could lose access to food at the end of the month.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) told state agencies on Oct. 10 that there will not be enough funding to pay the entirety of November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits if the federal government shutdown continues. The federal government officially shut down on Oct. 1 after President Donald Trump and congressional leaders failed to reach a compromise on funding.
