A rare tornado tore through a northern Paris suburb on Monday, killing one person and injuring four others, according to authorities.

It also uprooted trees and damaged property.

The town of Ermont, about 20 kilometres (13 miles) north of Paris, was one of the hardest hit, but the tornado caused damage in various other areas.
