HONOLULU (Island News) -- Light showers are moving across the Hawaiian Islands this morning, brought in by breezy trade winds. These showers are quick and scattered, but many island areas are seeing small amounts of rainfall. The heaviest rain, over half an inch, has been recorded in the higher areas of Kauai and Oahu, especially on east-facing slopes.
This wetter weather pattern is expected to continue through the week. A weather system, known as a trough, is lingering over the islands and drawing in extra moisture. This will bring more scattered showers, especially in the early part of each day. It’s a welcome change for the islands, many of which have been dealing with moderate to severe drought conditions.
