Sarasota murder trial stalled again after 4-year wait for victim’s family

For close to four years, Amy Thompson and her family have waited for the day the man accused of killing 24-year-old Colton Wright would stand trial.

They have watched as court dates have come, gone, been pushed back or been continued. All the while, Brennan Wakey, 29, continues to be out on bond, a GPS ankle monitor tracking his whereabouts. He is charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
