MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Testing for lead exposure in children under the age of 6 has improved, allowing quicker detection and treatment for lead poisoning cases in the state, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced Tuesday.
Statewide lead exposure testing in children under the age of 6 increased 26% in 2024, DHS said.
This week is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, dedicated to reminding parents and caregivers that knowing the signs of lead poisoning, as well as testing children for lead poisoning, can prevent serious impacts to health.
