The Leaning Tower in Niles was illuminated purple throughout September in recognition of “National Recovery Month,” village officials announced on social media.

According to the village of Niles Facebook page, the color symbolized the village’s support for individuals and families in recovery from substance abuse and mental health challenges, and Niles’ ongoing commitment to reducing stigma.

“The village of Niles is proud to participate in a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness of the transformative power of recovery,” officials stated on the Facebook page.
