Stargazers: Don't forget to look up tonight and watch out for shooting stars — or should we say shooting asteroids — as the annual Orionid meteor shower hits its peak overnight Tuesday.

Though the meteor shower will be active until Nov. 22, the celestial event is expected to peak on Oct. 21 just before midnight until around 2 a.m., according to NASA scientists. Stargazers in dark, rural areas could see up to 20 Orionid meteors per hour , according to the American Meteor Society.

People across the globe should be able to see the yearly display easily this year, as the new moon will leave the sky completely dark.
