A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle early Tuesday morning on the Interstate 10 Twin Span Bridge in St. Tammany Parish.

A 2026 Mazda CX-5 was traveling eastbound on I-10 when it struck Edashia Caraway, a 26-year-old from Appleton, Wisconsin, the Louisiana State Police said in a press release. The crash occurred about three miles south of Old Spanish Trail.

Before the Mazda hit Caraway, another vehicle may have struck the pedestrian, who was also on the eastbound lanes of I-10, State Police said based on preliminary findings.

Caraway was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said, while the driver of the Mazda driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. Walking along an interstate highway is prohibited by law, State Police said.
