A fundraising campaign has been launched to help a Minneapolis Montessori school recover from the vandalism of its playground.
The nonprofit Heartwood Montessori School in Northeast Minneapolis says its playground was damaged over the weekend of October 4, sharing a picture showing that a playhouse was broken and other equipment damaged and overturned.
The school's Parent Involvement Committee has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000 to repair and restore the play area.
"We are seeking funds urgently to help repair and restore the playground so that our children can use it safely again," the committee says.
"Any proceeds in excess of what we need for the rebuild will go toward equipment and safety upgrades (safety lights, secure fencing, etc) for both the toddler and children'
