X, the platform previously known as Twitter, is launching a new feature allowing users to purchase inactive usernames. This marketplace is available to premium subscribers who can buy previously unavailable handles.

Once a request is approved, the user's old handle will be frozen. If a premium subscription is canceled or downgraded, the account reverts to the original handle after a 30-day grace period.

Prices for rare usernames can vary significantly. Preset prices range from $2,500 to seven figures, depending on demand. The marketplace allows the purchase of handles that have not been used for an extended period.
