A Concord man faces up to $5,000 in civil penalties for allegedly physically and verbally assaulting a transgender woman at her workplace last year.
Travis Lufkin, 24, was allegedly motivated in his assault by hatred of "the victim's actual or perceived gender identity and/or sexual orientation," according to a complaint filed by the state Department of Justice's Civil Rights Unit.
The Attorney General's Office announced the complaint was filed over a May 19, 2024, incident. According to a news release, Lufkin allegedly entered the victim's workplace, which she had asked Lufkin to leave on a previous occasion.
