WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal regulators have issued a recall for thousands of tires after discovering a defect that could cause the tread to detach, posing a serious crash risk.

Continental Tire the Americas is recalling approximately 5,300 tires after discovering they were manufactured with the wrong rubber compound, which can cause the tread to detach. The affected models include Continental CrossContact LX25 (235/60R18 107V), CrossContact RX ContiSeal (275/40R21 107H), TerrainContact H/T (LT265/60R20 121/118R), and General Grabber HTS 60 (LT245/75R17 121/118S).
